I can decorate my Gingerbread Man

 Today we worked on a special art project for our families for the holidays. We want it to be a surprise! We will be wrapping them and bringing them home next week and cannot wait to share it with you. 

We contiue to work on reviewing our 8 letters we have been working on. Please continue to practice them at home with me. We are beginning to segment and blend sounds in words using the letters we know. At this time in kindergarten, we are working on segmenting and blending three letter words that have a consonant, vowel and consonant. We are learning to read words like: pit, sit, sat, nap, tip, pip, pin, pat, pan and more.

Kindergarten Winter Celebration Performances

Kindergarten students will be having mini concerts during the day on Wednesday, Dec. 20

·         The morning classes will perform in the gym at 10:30am

·         The afternoon classes will perform at 2:15pm. 

·         Families are welcome to attend with audience seating beginning at 10:15am and 2:00pm

Pyjama Day

- AM KINDERGARTEN: Thursday Dec 21. -PJ Day! (last day before winter break for AM class)

- PM KINDERGARTEN: Friday Dec 22 - PJ Day! (last day before winter break for PM class) 
Wear your pyjamas to school. No stuffies please.

-We are collecting donations for the Mustard Seed - please see below for specific items being collected.  Donations will be collected until Dec. 15th

Students in grade 5 have been learning about The Mustard Seed, whose vision is to eliminate homelessness and reduce poverty in Calgary. The grade 5 students and staff have decided to take on a Community Project to help support people who are experiencing homelessness and/or poverty in our city.

Students have been exploring the question, “Can one person make a difference?” Students think each and everyone of us at Copperfield can make a difference. Whether it be by helping with donations for The Mustard Seed or by thinking about ways to help others. A smile or extending a simple “Hello” to someone having a challenging day can make a huge difference. 

You can chose to donate to our important community project by sending in individual items. Items include urgently needed items, hygiene items, and clothing items. Here is a list of items to donate.

Urgent Needed Items

blankets, shampoo, body wash, lotion, deodorant, razors

Hygiene Items

conditioner (travel size), toothpaste (travel size), tissues (travel size), lip balm, hair brushes, sleep masks, ear plugs, nail clippers, foot powder

Clothing

toques, gloves, men’s small size clothing (jogging pants, t-shirts, sweatshirts, socks)

Other Items

Backpacks


If you are able to, we ask you to bring in your donations by December 15th, to allow for the grade 5 students to organize and send in the donations. Donation bins will be at the front of the school.

  Hello families and welcome to our kindergarten blog! We will be updating this blog daily with what we have been working on and important information and updates about our class. We had a wonderful first staggered entry day yesterday. Your children were absolutely wonderful and they did so great! Thank you for your help in prepping them for this milestone. I can give my best smile for picture day

We got our photos done today, it will be neat to compare them to our first photos we took at the beginning of the year. I can see how much I've grown! We have been working on a couple of letters this week. Parent Teacher Conferences The March conference is an opportunity for teachers to share learning progress with families and highlight key next steps in the learning progression for the remainder of Term 2.  Parents/guardians will book their 15-minute conference time on-line using their MyCBE/PowerSchool Account. I can celebrate Valentine's Day

Happy Valentines Day!  Today we decorated paper bags so that our friends could mail us valentines!  It was so much fun handing out special cards to all my friends.  Please check out the note that is attached to my bag for some activity ideas!
